Auction Rules

1. Eligibility and accounts

Guests may browse, but bidding requires an eligible registered account and acceptance of the marketplace Terms and these Auction Rules. Account information must be accurate and current. Hope For Paws Foundation may restrict bidding when reasonably necessary to address suspected fraud, abuse, repeated nonpayment, policy violations, security concerns, or legal requirements.

2. Bids are commitments

Submitting a bid means the bidder is offering to purchase the item if that bidder becomes the valid winner. Bidders should review the entire listing, photographs, condition, shipping method, estimated charges, and applicable policies before bidding. Bids generally are not retractable merely because a bidder changes their mind. A correction may be considered for a documented material listing or system error or when required by law.

3. Maximum/proxy bidding

Where maximum bidding is available, the system may place bids automatically on a bidder's behalf only as needed, using the applicable increment and not exceeding that bidder's maximum. Private maximum amounts are not intended to be displayed publicly.

4. Bid increments and competing bids

The marketplace determines the minimum acceptable next bid using the configured increment rules. Server-side records control the order and validity of bids. If competing bids or requests arrive close together, the marketplace's accepted server record—not a bidder's screen refresh time—controls.

5. Reserve auctions

An auction may have a confidential reserve or minimum selling price. The marketplace may indicate whether the reserve has been met without revealing the reserve amount. If the reserve is not met at closing, there is no completed auction sale unless a separate transaction is later offered and accepted in accordance with applicable rules.

6. No-reserve auctions

An auction expressly identified as “No Reserve” may be awarded to the highest valid bidder at closing, subject to these rules, fraud/security review, technical-error correction, and rights required by law.

7. Auction timing and late bidding

The listing displays the scheduled closing time. If the marketplace's anti-sniping feature is enabled, a valid bid received during the final two minutes may extend the auction by two minutes, and additional qualifying late bids may cause additional extensions. The server-recorded closing time controls.

8. Determining the winner

The winning bidder is determined from valid server-side bidding records after the auction closes and any reserve requirement is satisfied. A temporary screen display, email, text message, or notification does not override the final transaction record. Hope For Paws Foundation may review and correct an auction affected by an obvious technical malfunction, duplicate transaction, unauthorized activity, fraud, or material listing error.

9. Payment by winners

Unless a different deadline is shown, a winning bidder should complete payment within 48 hours of the winner notice. The amount due may include the winning price, applicable sales tax, shipping or pickup-related charges, and any separately elected voluntary contribution.

10. Nonpayment

If payment is not completed within the applicable period, Hope For Paws Foundation may cancel the unpaid order, relist the item, consider an eligible second-chance process, place bidding restrictions or holds on the account, or take other reasonable action permitted by marketplace rules and law. Repeated nonpayment may result in longer or permanent bidding restrictions.

11. Cancellation, suspension, and administrative action

Hope For Paws Foundation may pause, cancel, extend, relist, or administratively correct an auction when reasonably necessary because of a material listing error, item unavailability, safety concern, fraud, prohibited conduct, system malfunction, legal requirement, or other documented operational issue. Administrative action is not intended to favor a bidder or manipulate an auction result.

12. Shipping and combined shipping

Shipping terms are part of the listing. Eligible items may be combined when practical and safe, but combined shipping is not guaranteed. Oversized, fragile, high-risk, pickup-only, or otherwise incompatible items may ship separately. Carrier transit dates are estimates and are not guaranteed by Hope For Paws Foundation.

13. Condition and one-of-a-kind goods

Marketplace merchandise may be donated, pre-owned, vintage, unique, or one of a kind. Photographs and condition disclosures form part of the listing. Bidders should ask available questions before bidding. Normal age, wear, or imperfections that are disclosed or reasonably consistent with the stated condition do not automatically create a return right.

14. Returns and disputes

Auction purchases are generally final sale, subject to the Returns & Damaged Items Policy, applicable payment-provider procedures, and rights required by law. A review may be available for a materially misdescribed item, wrong item, qualifying transit damage, or other covered issue.

15. Prohibited conduct

Shill bidding, collusion, bid manipulation, use of multiple accounts to distort bidding, automated abuse, payment fraud, harassment, interference with another bidder, and attempts to compromise marketplace systems are prohibited. Suspected violations may result in bid cancellation, account restrictions, transaction review, or referral where appropriate.
